Order replacement HVAC filters
Find the right filters, compare options, place an order, and confirm delivery.
Saved catalog revision 2 · Updated
Provisional starter draft, revision 0.1.0. Content review and execution evidence are pending. Confirm the equipment manual and the home's requirements before ordering.
Goal
Identify filters that match the equipment and the household's stated preferences, prepare a comparison, and let the person approve any purchase. A successful run ends with the selected item, price, delivery estimate, and order status recorded for the person.
Information to collect
- Filter dimensions exactly as printed on the existing filter or specified in the equipment manual. Do not infer dimensions from a photograph.
- The requested quantity and preferred replacement date.
- Any stated brand, material, or filtration preference, plus a spending limit if the person provides one.
- Delivery location and timing constraints, using only the information needed by the approved shopping service.
If a dimension is unreadable, measurements conflict, or a preference has not been given, ask the person. Do not guess a fit or choose a filtration rating on their behalf.
Procedure
Compatible capabilities
Use an agent with authorized web search or browser access, an approved retailer, a way to ask for human approval, and access to order tracking when supplied by the user. The host must grant these capabilities separately. Without purchasing access, return the comparison and let the person place the order.
- Read the equipment documentation or the label on the current filter. Record the source and exact size notation. Keep nominal and measured dimensions distinct when both appear.
- Search the approved retailer or catalog for that size. Compare only options with a clearly matching size. Capture product name, listed size, quantity per pack, price, shipping cost, delivery estimate, and source link.
- Remove unavailable, mismatched, or materially unclear listings from the shortlist. Explain any trade-off in plain language; do not claim that a product improves health or equipment performance without reliable evidence supplied for this task.
- Show the person the shortlist and the total expected cost. Ask for explicit approval of the exact product, quantity, destination, and total before placing an order.
- After approval, submit only the approved order through the authorized service. Report the service's response and retain its order reference if provided.
- Check the order status using the approved service. Mark delivery confirmed only when the service or the person supplies evidence that it arrived.
Approval boundary
Searching and preparing a comparison do not authorize a purchase. Never place an order, change quantity, accept a substitute, use a saved payment method, or change the delivery address without the person's explicit approval for that action.
If the exact item becomes unavailable or the price changes after approval, stop and present the change for a new decision. Do not treat a prior approval as covering a different item or amount.
Recovery
- If the available sources disagree about size, pause and ask the person to check the equipment manual or current filter label.
- If the retailer returns incomplete pricing or delivery information, mark that field unknown and request a person-led check before purchase.
- If checkout times out or returns an ambiguous result, do not retry blindly. Check order history for a matching order reference first; if status remains uncertain, tell the person and wait.
- If delivery is delayed, canceled, or substituted, report the source status and ask what they want to do next.
Completion evidence
Report the source used for dimensions, the compared options, the person's approval, the exact item and total submitted, and the latest order status. Include timestamps or service references when available. Keep unknown details marked unknown. Do not report success based only on a button click or an unverified assumption.
Success criteria
- The selected filter size matches a cited equipment or existing-filter source.
- The person approved the exact item, quantity, destination, and total before purchase.
- The final report distinguishes a submitted order from confirmed delivery.
